OWL Bakery News & Thanksgiving Offerings
It has been a long moment...
Since I have been in touch, but that does not mean one ounce that I have not been thinking about each of you and missing you! As the holiday season approaches, I remember last year and the whelm of support and warmth I felt from all of you in this bakery venture that was so new and tender. A world of things, comings and goings, visions and re-visions, has transpired since June when I sent my last email. I have so many things to tell you!
I will get to the goods — or rather, the pies and tarts — in just a bit, but first, in a very condensed little acorn shell, I have some announcements:
OWL Bakery has a space! I have signed a lease for a small building in West Asheville near Beecham's Curve and our permits have been submitted to the city. We'll be opening a full retail operation, with a wood-fired oven for bread production. Bread will be back, along with a full retinue of daily pastries, toast offerings, and a full coffee program.
We have a new website! One of the most fortuitous things that transpired this summer was meeting the sublime and talented Nicole McConville, who has been creating the most lovely and thoughtful portraits of my creations. Some are featured on our new site, but there are many more beautiful images to come. The images in this newsletter are among them.
Retail Orders for the Holidays are back! ...starting with pies and tarts (and yes, croissants and palmiers too) for Thanksgiving, up on the website now. Any orders placed online through this Monday, November 23, will be available for pickup from 4-6 PM at 227 Haywood Road on Wednesday, November 25. On Monday, November 30, we'll be announcing our Holiday Offerings, available each week in December, with pickup on the following Mondayafternoon.
We'd love to see you at our Holiday Pop-up on December 13! In collaboration with Short Street Cakes, from 1-4 PM, we'll be welcoming folks at 227 Haywood Road, serving hot mulled cider, hot cocoa, and sampling our holiday offerings. We'll have cookie boxes (stay tuned... this year, Maia had the brilliant idea of introducing a savory cracker box!), Gingerbread House Kits, Chocolate Babka, Marshmallows, and Maia's Granola available for purchase. And Short Street will be hosting a "Decorate Your Own Gingerbread Person" activity!
